SAS Astronomy Picture of the Month [July, 2024]

Antares - Rho Ophiuchi Region

Beautiful capture of the Antares – Rho Ophiuchi region of the sky! You can also see M4 and NGC 6144 practically side by side near the bottom of the image. David took this with his C6 HyperStar, ASI 294 camera, and an Optolong L-Pro filter.  The exposure was only 48 min, and despite the gibbous moon being only 30 degrees away and poor transparency, he was able to pull out some nice color! The image was processed with Pixinsight and refined in Photoshop.
